Jeff Nelson discusses the inaugural cross country meet named in his honor, hosted by Burbank High at Griffith Park. Nelson, a 1979 Burbank graduate, captured the 1980 California Community College Athletic Association state cross country title for Glendale Community College at Griffith Park. Nelson is a two-time high school state 3,200-meter champion in addition to winning the CIF-Section 3-A cross country crown in 1978, since the state meet in California wasn't introduced until 1987.
